GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Midwest United FC is announced Thursday to that the club has officially accepted an invitation for its girls programs to join the Girls Academy League (GA) beginning in the Fall 2025 season.
“We are excited to return to the Girls Academy, which represents an important step in enhancing our player development pathway,” said Midwest United Executive Director Lewis Robinson. “The league’s competitive environment, growth, and focus on overall player development align well with our club’s mission and goals, and we can't wait to get started this fall.”
While the club has had a positive experience in the ECNL, the evolving landscape of youth soccer and league platforms has led it to prioritize aligning both its girls soccer and boys soccer academies within the same league ecosystem. The recent partnership between Girls Academy League and MLS NEXT aligns with the club’s philosophy, players, and teams moving forward.
Midwest United FC is confident that the Girls Academy will offer its players strong regional league competition, valuable national showcase opportunities, and a clear pathway to college soccer.
The club plans to field U13-U19 teams in the GA’s top tier, along with U13-U19 teams in “Aspire,” the GA’s localized second-tier platform.
More information, including a staff lineup, will be available in the coming weeks.
