Former Flint City Bucks star the latest to receive promotion

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake’s Emeka Eneli has received the call.

Eneli, the former standout with Cornell University and the Michigan-based Flint City Bucks of the USL League Two who is set for his third season with Real Salt Lake of the MLS, received a U.S. Men’s National Team invite Monday and will have a chance to compete for U.S. head coach Mauricio Pochettino at some friendlies again Venezuela (Jan. 18) and Costa Rica (Jan. 22).

Eneli, who plays midfielder and outside marking back for Real Salt Lake, becomes just the second alumni of the Michigan/Flint City Bucks to reach the USMNT, following Pat Noonan back in 2002.

The upcoming U.S. contests are a pivotal opportunity to identify talent before the CONCACAF Nations League Finals, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, and eventually the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be played in North America including on U.S. soil.
