BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Brooklyn FC today announced the signing of defender Grace Phillpotts for the remainder of the inaugural 2024-25 USL Super League season, pending league and federation approval.
“We are excited to welcome Grace to Brooklyn,” said Brooklyn FC Sporting Director Kevin Tenjo. “Her versatility makes her a valuable asset as we work to build on this season’s success. Grace brings a strong defensive presence along with an offensive edge, and we’re excited to see the impact she’ll have on our backline.
Phillpotts joins Brooklyn FC after an impressive collegiate career at DePaul University and the University of Kentucky, where she consistently demonstrated her defensive prowess and playmaking abilities. In her final collegiate season at Kentucky, she started all 21 matches, logging a career-high 1,799 minutes and scoring her first collegiate goal. Phillpotts also tied her career-best of four assists for the fourth consecutive season, earned All-SEC First Team honors, and was recognized on the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Region First Team.
“I am extremely excited to join Brooklyn FC and begin this new chapter,” said Phillpotts. “I am thrilled to contribute to a team that values community, teamwork, and success and I am looking forward to connecting with the fans and representing Brooklyn FC.”
Phillpotts, who hails from Fenton, Michigan, and attended Flint Powers Catholic High School, was also an accomplished club soccer player for the prestigious Michigan Hawks ECNL program. During her club career, she even helped the Hawks finish third at the ECNL national tournament in 2017 – a year where she received her first invite to attend the ECNL ID2 National Team Camp.
In high school she also lettered in girls soccer and girls track and field for Powers Catholic and even earned All-State honors in soccer.
She original competed for three years in college at DePaul, making the All-Big Est Conference Freshman Team in 2020 during her debut campaign where she recorded seven starts. In 2021, Phillpotts recorded four assists, started 18 games and logged 1,573 minutes. During the 2022 campaign, Phillpotts started 12 of the Blue Demons’ 16 games and also recorded four assists.
She then transferred over to Kentucky, where she excelled as a two-year starter as both a senior and graduate player. During the 2023 season, her first in a Kentucky uniform, Phillpotts earned All-SEC Second Team status and United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team status after again recording four assists on the year.
