FLINT, Mich. – French midfielder Mattéo Brossel for the upcoming USL League Two season, pending league and federation approval.
Brossel joined the University of New Hampshire as a graduate student before the fall 2024 season. Upon his signing, UNH head coach Rich Weinrebe noted that the French defensive midfielder brings experience, toughness, and “unrelenting engine.”
Those attributes led to All-America East First Team honors after his first collegiate season. Brossel played in all 17 matches, starting 16, and tallied two assists.
Before coming stateside, he played more than 60 games in the French fourth-division league Championnat National 2. He spent multiple seasons at Hyères FC after representing his hometown Sporting Toulon Var, which he captained in 2020-21. Brossel also developed in the UA Valettoise youth academy system from 2016 through 2019.
Spanning all games, the Flint City Bucks finished 15-3-3 overall last season, including 10-1-3 in the Great Lakes Division of the USL League Two Central Conference. The divisional champs finished 2-1 in the USL postseason, topping the Cleveland Force (1-0) and Fort Wayne FC (2-1) before falling in the Central Conference finals (elite eight) to eventual North American runner-up Peoria City (1-0).
Against USL League Two competition, Flint City posted a 42-18 scoring edge, including 39-16 (plus-23) in Great Lakes Division play where the team recorded 33 points to qualify for the postseason once again.
