OAKLAND, Calif. – The Oakland Roots SC are trying to set franchise records – and more.
With only weeks away until the start of the 2025 season, the Roots have already set the franchise record for tickets sold for the season opener. But the Oakland, California,-based USL Championship team is trying to set a league-wide USL Championship record for a USL Championship match and USL match overall spanning all leagues under the USL governing body.
On March 22, the Oakland Roots will play their very first match inside the historic Oakland Coliseum where they hope to establish a new record for attendance – both for a single game that night and for a entire season in 2025. The home opener against San Antonio FC is set for a 7 p.m. PT kickoff (10 p.m. ET).
The half-time show will include rapper Too $hort and there will be a postgame fireworks display for fans and residents of Oakland.
