UPSL: Detroit Metro FC tabs Alex Lubyansky as inaugural head coach and GM

BRIGHTON, Mich. – Detroit Metro FC announced Tuesday that Alex Lubyansky is joining Detroit Metro FC as both head coach and general manager for the club’s inaugural season.

 

With decades of experience leading teams and developing top-tier talent, Lubyansky, a Kyiv, Ukraine-native who has resided in the Farmington Hills area since he was a teenager brings a track record of success that will be critical to Detroit Metro FC’s first season.


Detroit Metro FC kicks off its inaugural season in the UPSL this spring of 2025 at the Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, Michigan.


Earlier this month, the organization appointed Jeff Tripoli as its new club president. Tripoli adds a wealth of experience as a seasoned marketing executive and serial entrepreneur with a proven business acumen that will lead Detroit Metro FC into a new exciting era.


Over the last 1.5 years, Detroit Metro FC’s founding members have been focused on growing the game and sparking a new wave of passion across the soccer community. This project is about more than just leadership — it’s about a vision, a team, and an unwavering commitment to the future of soccer in Metro Detroit.
