KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Pierre Lurot was one of six players to sign as trailists with Sporting Kansas City 2 over the weekend.
Sporting Kansas City II competes in the MLS NEXT Pro.
Lurot, a defender, is joined by forward David Zavala, defender Anthony Samways, and midfielders Bryan Arellano, Gael Quintero and Beckham Uderitz. Arellano and Lurot are awaiting their P1 visas and Zavala is awaiting an International Clearance Transfer from Mexico.
Lurot, a 6-foot-3, 170-pound native of Bourges, France, finished up his college eligibility last November at the University of Michigan. The 22-year-old previously played two seasons at Southwest Baptist (2020-21) and also had a two-year stint at the University of Indianapolis, an NCAA Division II school.
Led by newly appointed head coach Istvan Urbanyi and returning assistant coach Ike Opara, Sporting KC II now has 10 players signed to professional contracts entering the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. Over the course of the season, SKC II will also draw upon Sporting KC Academy standouts and MLS players loaned down from Sporting’s first team.
Lurot logged 373 minutes in his first and only season in Ann Arbor, Michigan, playing at the University of Michigan. The Wolverines finished 9-5-7 overall and finished 2-1 in the Big Ten tournament which ended in the Big Ten finals at Ohio State University (1-0). He registered one assist but played in just six games due to injury. Michigan finished 1-1 in the NCAA Division I Tournament.
Earlier in his career, Lurot played and started in 32 games at Indianapolis and 29 matches at NCAA Division II Southwest Baptist. As a defender, he recorded two goals with three assists and logged more than 5,000 minutes during those four combined seasons before finishing up at Michigan. He was the 2022 Great Lakes Valley League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and was All-GLVC First Team along with Division II CCA All-Midwest Region First Team.
