TROY, Mich. – Nearly 10 months to the day, Troy finally gained its measure of revenge on Rochester Adams.

For now.

The two Oakland Activities Association Red Division powerhouses faced off once again with host Troy finally pulling out a 2-1 victory in the league opener Thursday for both teams.

Adams defeated Troy 1-0 in a double overtime Division 1 regional finals clash on June 6, 2024 which handed the Colts their second and final loss of the campaign. The Colts finished 14-2-3 overall, won the OAA Red Division crown at 4-0-2 but also watched Rochester Adams walk off the field with a regional championship last season.

Troy also watched the Highlanders post a 16-2-2 overall record and finish up as the 2024 Division 1 state champion - its first girls soccer state crown since 1999.

The Colts remembered on Thursday.

Junior forward Olivia Jasniewicz finished off a through ball from Ava Fleming with 16:27 remaining in the second half – and that goal proved to be the game-winner for the Colts.

Adams (4-1-0, 0-1-0) scored the game’s first goal with 34:10 still to go in the first half when Samantha Hawkins aced a free kick home from 20 yards out to put the Highlanders into a 1-0 advantage.

The lead was short-lived.

Troy (2-0-0, 1-0-0) responded less than a minute later when Brynn Zawislak equalized for the Colts.

Sophia Peronis notched the win in goal for Troy after making six saves on the night. Lexi Calcamugio registered five saves for Rochester Adams, which held a narrow 11-10 edge in total shots.

It marked the first loss of the season for Adams and first loss for the Highlanders since a 1-0 setback to Rochester Stoney Creek on April 30, 2024. Adams also lost its league opener last season to Troy (2-1).

Adams entered the game outsourcing the opposition 18-2 as part of its 4-0 start. The Highlanders saw their 14-game win streak snapped – a streak that spanned parts of the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
