HOLLAND, Mich. – Now that’s a fast start.
Behind a torrid offensive pace, Holland opened up the 2025 season with a convincing 12-0 victory over visiting Wyoming Lee Thursday night.
Senior midfielder Emma Maragron led the charge with four goals and for good measure assisted on another for the Dutch.
Olivia Weiss, Daniela Jarquin, Melina Garcia and Lesley Garcia all chipped in with two goals apiece. Ashley Saldana had a goal and Megan Smith chipped in with two assists for holland (1-0-0).
PLYMOUTH 2, ANN ARBOR SKYLINE 0: After finishing 7-10-3 overall last season, Plymouth is trying to right the ship in 2025.
The Wildcats took a nice leap forward Thursday night.
Plymouth upended perennial powerhouse Ann Arbor Skyline – a team regularly in the Division 1 state rankings the last several years – by a 2-0 decision to make a statement.
Sophomore Reagan Fluharty scored in the first half and junior Mady McCarthy added an insurance tally in the second half. The day marked McCarthy’s 17th birthday.
OTSEGO 2, KALAMAZOO CHRISTIAN 1: Otsego had a quality season last year, finishing with a 15-51 record and that included a third-place finish in the eight-school Wolverine Conference and a berth in the Division 2 district finals before falling to Richland-Gull Lake (1-0).
The Bulldogs were back at it again Thursday night to open the season.
Otsego recorded a noteworthy victory with a 2-1 decision over visiting Kalamazoo Christian, a Division 4 state powerhouse program that finished as the D-4 state champion in 2023 and was the D-4 state runner-up in 2024.
