HOLLY, Mich. – Abbie Hill knocked in the game-winner Tuesday night with 2:10 left in the second half, and Holly opened up the season with a 2-1 non-league victory over Almont.
Senior center back Jess Booher assisted on the game winner with a long service into the box. Hill also scored in the first half for the Broncos (1-0-0).
Almont, the defending Blue Water Area Conference champion which also won a Division 3 district title last season, picked up a goal from Avery Peach. The Tigers slipped to 0-1-0 on the season.
BIRMINGHAM MARIAN 2, BIRMINGHAM DETROIT COUNTRY DAY 0: Emma Wyciskalla scored both goals as the Mustangs grabbed the non-conference win between area private schools powers. Clair Dauer and Bella Musachio picked up the assists for Marian (2-0-0), which own a 9-1 scoring edge after two games this season. Marian was the Division 2 state runner-up last season.
MARSHALL 5, EDWARDSBURG 0: Ollie Rozell finished with two goals and three assists Tuesday in this non-league affair. Rozell scored the first two goals and had helpers on the last three tallies. Lillian Moore added two goals, Anaya Burghdorf had the other goal, and Lola Saber picked up two assists for Marshall. Megan Rehfweldt finished with six saves for her second shutout for the Redhawks (2-2-0).
MUSKEGON MONA SHORES 4, HOLLAND WEST OTTAWA 0: Katie Phillips scored twice and both Olivia Naylor and Kendall Berghuis added single goals for the Sailors in this non-league win Tuesday. eLaa Kinney added two assists, Saidey Burns and Kendall Berghuis contributed single assists and Abby Buikema got the shutout in the net making 10 saves. Mona Shores (1-1-0) also picked up steady defensive play from Lauren Alexander, Kylie Dusenberry, Addison Fisher and MaKinley Younts.
PAW PAW 9, HARTFORD 1: Freshman Sophia Rainer scored her first career goal and Paw Paw cruised to the non-league win. Jill Fulcher and Victoria Lopez recorded hat tricks, while Liliana Solis and Zoey Bridges had single goals for the winners.
OVID-ELSIE 2, ST. JOHNS 2: McKenzie Keck finished with a goal and an assist and scored the game-tyin g goal Tuesday late in regulation of this non-conference against neighboring St. Johns. Freshman Madalynn Bushard scored the other goal for the Maurauders.
GOODRICH 1, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 0: Goodrich gained the last laugh in this competitive non-conference game. NDP had defeated Goodrich 4-1 last season.
