ELK RAPIDS, Mich. – Elk Rapids scored three first-half goals and tacked on two more after halftime and cruised to a 5-0 Northern Shores Conference win Thursday over visiting Charlevoix.
The Elks, who own a 22-6 scoring edge this season, picked up their second straight shutout with the victory.
Sierra Boilore finished the night with two goals and an assist to pace Elk Rapids (3-2-0, 3-1-0).
Sopie Belner, Carlee and Pipre Neteer also scored goals and Kara Thompson and Cora Moore picked up assists for the Elks.
Natasha Beebe picked up the clean sheet in goal for Elk Rapids.
AUBURN HILLS AVONDALE 5, WEST BLOOMFIELD 0: Wins were hard to come by for Avondale last season. In fact, the Yellowjackets’ only win in 2024 was a 9-0 decision over Warren Fitzgerald in a Division 2 pre-district contest. That was one of just a few bright spots for Avondale a year ago when they ventured through a major rebuilding campaign with a 1-12-4 overall record. Avondale improved to 4-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in OAA Blue Division play Thursday with this resounding 5-0 victory over West Bloomfield – already quadrupling last year’s win total. Lainey Pruzinsky led the way with two goals and an assist, Sophie Clark chipped in with two goals, Elaine Darovitz added a goal and an assist and Abby Muma had one assist for the Yellowjackets. West Bloomfield slipped to 0-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.
NORTH FARMINGTON 5, FARMINGTON 1: North Farmington remained alone in first place of the Oakland Activities Association Blue Division with this decision Thursday in Farmington Hills. The Raiders improved to 6-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the five-school league. The Raiders have now outscored its league foes 23-2 this season, while North Farmington holds a 33-10 overall scoring edge with three clean sheets. Summer Williams gained the win in goal for the Raiders.
LELAND 1, SUTTONS BAY-NORTH BAY UNIFIED 0: Lillian Connor scored with five minutes left and defending Northwest Conference champion Leland squeeked out the conference win. Elli Miller had the assist and was also in goal to record the shutout for the Comets (5-0-0, 2-0-0). McKenzie Schaub had 12 saves for Suttons Bay, which also brings in athletes from Northport and Lake Leelanau St. Mary's.
ANN ARBOR SKYLINE 6, MONROE 1: River Pham had an offensive outburst with four goals Thursday and Division 1 15th-ranked Skyline cruises to this Southeastern Conference-Red Division win Thursday over the Trojans. Rain Pham and Jade Thompson both added a goal and an assist apiece for the Eagles (3-2-0, 2-0-0).
KINGSFORD 4, HOUGHTON 1: Onika Smeester netted the hat trick and Houghton won its first game of the season in Upper Peninsula Soccer Association league play. Libby Vross also scored for Kingsford, Lexi Gunville drew an assists for the Flivvers (1-0-0, 1-0-0). Kylie Woodward picked up the win in net for Kingsford.
BEAVERTON 2, SHEPHERD 0: In just its second year of competition, Beaverton picked up its program’s first-ever victory in school history. Brooklyn Onton and Trinity Danielak scored the goals and Olivia Sommers notched the shut out in goal for Beaverton (1-4-0, 1-3-0) in this Jack Pine Conference contest. This is also the first year that the JPC has played a conference schedule for soccer. In previous years, area schools competed in the other leagues such as the Northern Michigan Soccer League, Tri Valley Conference or as independents. Beaverton, Shepherd, Midland Bullock Creek, West Branch Ogemaw Heights, Gladwin, Clare, Pinconning and Standish-Sterling make up the eight soccer programs in the 12-school league.
BERKLEY 3, BIRMINGHAM GROVES 0: Madi Bonsall scored twice and Berkley moved into second place in the OAA White Division. Abby Short also scored and Hailey Kirkwood had two assists and KAte Polloch drew one helper for the Bears (5-1-2, 3-1-1).
DEXTER 1, TEMPERANCE-BEDFORD 0: Kendall Cabana scored the lone goal and Dexter captured the Southeastern Conference-Red Division win Thursday. The Dreanaughts improved to 3-0-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in conference play. Bedford slipped to 0-6-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the eight-school league. Avery Weingarden notched the shutout between the pipes for Berkley.
ELKTON-PIGEON BAY PORT 7, MILLINGTON 0: Charlotte Scadden scored two goals and added an assist as the Lakers cruised to the Big Thumb Conference win. Ana Vega, Aubrey Zarnke, Olivia Delmotte, Ella Zagorski and LeeAnn Kubacki had single goals for EPBP (3-1-0, 3-1-0), which owns a 20-5 scoring edge this season with three clean sheets. It marked the Lakers’ second straight shutout.
ANN ARBOR HURON 1, ANN ARBOR PIONEER 1: Mia Caruthers scored the lone goal for Huron in this SEC-Red Division contest. Burton improved to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the league, while Pioneer slipped to 3-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in league play.
BAD AXE 8, SAGINAW UNITED 0: Reese Booms scored twice and Bad Axe cruised to the non-conference win. Emma Bucholtz, Dana Santamaria, Amber Booms, Abby Michalski and Megan Sievert also scored single goals for the Hatchets. Maddie Jordan picked up three assists for Bad Axe (3-0-0, 3-0-0).
HOLT 0, OKEMOS 0: Lauren Ray picked up the shutout for Holt in this Capital Area Athletic Conference-Blue Division play Thursday. Ray finished with five saves for the Rams (0-3-2, 0-2-1).
GRAND HAVEN 2, HUDSONVILLE 1: Grand Haven, Division 1 state semifinalists last season, picked up this rare win over Hudsonville Thursday in Ottawa Kent Conference Red Division play.
ROCHESTER 2, DETROIT COUNTRY DAY 1: Riley Simpson and Ally Jeric scored the goals and Division 1 state-ranked Rochester remained unbeaten on the year with this non-league win Thursday. Simpson’s goal came off a penalty kick and Alice Max earned the win in goal. Rochester improved to 6-0-1 on the campaign and have outscored the opposition 19-3 overall with five shutouts.
OTSEGO 2, VICKSBURG 0: Otsego improved to 5-0-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the Wolverine Conference with this win Thursday. The Bulldogs are ranked in the top 15 in the state in Division 2.
